Mass-market gaming: the rise of gaming as a mainstream medium for Everyone and why it's here to stay

Less than 30 years old, the game industry is the fastest growing sector in entertainment in the world. Halo 3 is now the largest single day entertainment offering of all time with receipts of $170 million. Southpark recently made a World of Warcraft parody episode. The Nintendo Wii has revolutionized the way people play games. And casual games have taken non-traditional audiences by storm. This panel will discuss the relationship between casual and traditional markets for gaming, where the growth opportunities are in the industry, and what challenges the industry faces as it tries to become a true mass-market medium.
