Case Competition

The New York Times Media Group will be hosting a case competition as part of the 2009 MBA Media & Entertainment Conference. The competition will held be on February 27, 2009 at The New York Times headquarters in New York City.

Winners of the competition will receive:
  • $2,500 for the first place team
  • $1,500 for the second place team
  • Both the first and second place teams will have their successes featured in The New York Times
New York Times Case Competition Finalists:

There were nearly 50 teams and 200 total entrants in the New York Times Case Competition. We would like to advise you of the following finalists.

  • Johnson School at Cornell University: Daniel Hest, Steve Maddox, Tory Ragsdale, Lawrence Watkins
  • Harvard Business School: Mia Boserup, Kirsten Porter, Stephen Rowell, Tevia Segovia-Sanchez
  • Kellogg School of Management: Bryan Chauvel, Taryn Goldman, Angela Kye, and Stefan Maisnier
  • NYU Stern School of Business: Anastasia Dedyukhina, Kevin Drost, Isabella Joffe, Davide Tararbra
  • Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University: Bruno Geraci, Ryan LaCasse, Atul Singh, Calvin Smith
  • University of Connecticut School of Business: Keith Bessette, Jennifer Gorman, Katharine Mongoven, Brian Rozental
The competition schedule:
  • Please submit your team of 4 students, at least one of whom is an MBA candidate, by January 10, 2009. In preparing for the competition, your team will also be allowed to consult with one advisor of your choosing.
  • The case will be sent out to teams upon receiving their entry.
  • One-page abstracts are due by January 20, 2009. The abstracts will be reviewed and finalists will be notified by February 2, 2009.
  • The case competition will be held at The New York Times headquarters during the morning of February 27. Awards will be presented later that evening at Columbia University.
